Editor Say What?

I want to first start with saying this is not an attack on anyone. I just saw this with all of these errors and the only thing that came to mind was: ARE YOU SERIOUS? I know I usually don't list names but the name was all through and I copied/pasted and needed to cite the author (since it was listed).

From Mixed Flavor Magazine blog Posted Monday, June 4, 2012 (just an excerpt)
MIXED FLAVOR MAGAZINE IS NOT A BIG BUDGET MAGAZINE where we can fly models out arrange hotel accommodations and pay you all in once .  In fact when models ask is there pay evolved that just lets me know how uninformed they are of the industry and how its works …  BUT i will save that for another conversations on how u see money in the industry.  There are some things we pay for but paying a model to promote there self is not one of them.  We at mixed flavor magazine take submissions if you dont know what submission means then u have a long way to go as a model ..  thus post might seem mean or straight forward Just know Mixed Flavor magazine his here to better models and help them gain what they need to further there knowledge of the industry.  but if you are welling to work with us the info below will help you

To be in Mixed flavor Magazine subit pics to mixedflavormagazine@gmail.com
MIXED FLAVOR EDITOR
ANTONIO VEGA a.k.a. TONY VEGA

After reading that, I just hope they put more effort into proof-reading and hiring some educated writers because I don’t understand a model submitting to something where they are talking crazy to you and can’t even use the correct words in the proper context. Total Entertainment.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful, thriving mothers. Today I had the opportunity to work at AutoZone Park where the Memphis Redbirds play. This was my first visit there and I was working for Gildan. They had a promotion there for the mothers offering free manicures and massages while their little ones got the chance to make Gildan T-Shirts that said I love my mom because.... And they created their own personal messages.

Memphis Fire Department also showed up to debut their new pink fire truck showing support for breast cancer awareness. I had the chance to sign the fire truck as you can see on the right side of my photo as well as take a photo with one of our firemen.

I also got the chance to reconnect with some old pals, get a massage myself, and have fun with a great team of workers. It was sincerely a great day. Again, happy mother's day!!!!

If This Isn't An Industry Issue, I Don't Know What Is

So I'm in this group where people discuss upcoming promotional events and experiences, etc. At the exact time I was trying to contact this company that I worked for in November 2011 about paying me, I saw this posting from a girl that hadn't been paid for working an event she worked in September 2011. Everyone kept asking what company was it so they wouldn't have to deal with it and I decided to tell my situation.

Me:Well, I don't know what company they are referring to, but I wouldn't suggest BPI Brand to anyone because I never got paid by them and I never get responses from them via email and I've called dozens of times and I've never gotten an answer.

Note: I've called this company more times than I can count and emailed them at least a dozen times and I hadn't gotten a reply since January 2012 when they told me they were sending me a check that I never received.

So Lindsay, the group administrator had this to say in response:

Please refrain from bashing agencies specifically, SupermodelDominique Hudson. This group should be a place to discuss issues and industry-related topics. In order for us to allow this, we need people to keep their responses factual and refrain from bashing specific agencies or posting based on emotions. We want agency owners to continue posting opportunities here and if we let conversations go negative, they may no longer feel comfortable doing so, which would hurt the members of the group overall.

I understand that payment issues can be frustrating. We've all experienced them at one time or another. Please make sure the agency has all of your paperwork and correct contact information. Make sure that you have followed all the proper chains of command in trying to make contact in every way possible (phone, e-mail, letter, etc.). September is quite sometime, so I would recommend sending a certified letter with delivery confirmation that includes all of your information, a copy of your signed paperwork, the event worked (brand, date, time, pay rate), even a copy of the booking confirmation e-mail if you have it. You can also use outlets like Event Speak, or attempt to make contact with the agency directly on their personal social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Good luck!

I appreciate the fact that she's afraid to mention a companies name, but my information is factual and not based on emotions.

-I worked for this company. FACT
-They did not pay me. FACT
-I contacted them numerous times. FACT
-I didn't get replies. FACT
-I wrote on their Facebook page. FACT
-They deleted my comment. FACT
-They removed me from their page. FACT

I'm confused about what she thinks is factual or considered an industry issue. I think she should post her definition of those terms as well. Otherwise, I'm not changing my factual story. Oh, I wasn't changing it anyway.

Still Moving Forward,
Supermodel Dominique
